Default The latest Mars Volta album, good?

Is it as good as De-Loused In The Comatorium?

    Anyone...

My friends love it and keep bugging me to buy it, but I'm sort of over that kind of music. Basically more of the same with crazier drums. Deloused felt nowhere near as pretentious and self righteous as their newer stuff.

"it just seems like so little effort is put into creating this? am i missing something?"

I like how all the art is backgrounds are from street fighter 2...

Nothing that pays homage to video games could be pretentious.

I actually liked Amputecture a lot. My musical tastes have just grown past TMV. They're excellent musicians, but just plain ok songwriters. Sure they have lots of "wow!" moments in their 12 minute jams, but let's face it, if you're jamming for 12 minutes you'd really have to suck to not have a "wow!" moment amidst all the drivel.

It's ok, but nothing they've ever done has come anywhere close to De-Loused.

I really think all of their albums are almost equal. Tremulant is an awesome EP, Deloused is excellent, Frances The Mute is excellent, and Amputecture is excellent. My ears just can't tolerate this wankish music anymore
