i'd listen to them both and see what you think.

the u.s. version is more balls-out rawk, while the japanese version, with the outside producer, has more nuance and more blissy, krautrock-y moments interspersed throughout the more rawkish elements.

but, there are different tracks on both, so maybe buy one and burn the other?

the crazy yellow foam heart packaging on the japanese version is almost worth it in and of itself...
