it is!!! it's not listenable at all. A guy we were on tour with proudly came back from Aomeba with this and he was totally beaming. and we all kind of gagged a bit when we saw he had paid $50 us for it!!

ha. yeah. believe me, when I was in high school I read about MMM and thought "the concept sounds cool". then a friend of mine got it on japanese import and we heard it for a while. then kept jumping the needle ahead and it always sounded like the same grating noise. and I believe it was a three-record set.

that's when I learned that a concept can sound cool and yet not sound cool, ultimately at all.

that kind of reminds me of a pal I had in high school, who was kind of a proto-goth halloween-er type. He had heard about The The and Skinny Puppy and brought over these 3 records and was smugly head-bobbing as he was playing them with this "look at me, I'm fucking cool" attitude.

finally I went over because they sounded fucking weird and he was playing 45's on 33...


oddly, they sounded kind of cool at 33rpm.. really plodding deep beats
