i am not into busy drums but about 15 years ago i saw john zorn's masada band. joey baron was doing a drum solo. he started doing a crazy drum rudiment on the snare,, then he brought his leg up and put his foot on the snare and started bending snare notes with his foot. my mind was blown.

YouTube - John Zorn / MASADA - Beeroth (Joey Baron at its best!)

the only thing worse than a drum solo is a guitar solo? no, wait... a bass solo.?? no wait...

there is nothing worse than a fucking drum solo, only things equally as bad.

Sometimes technique can be a good thing but overall drum solos are 99.9% of the time a waste of everyones time.
