Brilliant record and awesome live. Definite step up from the Unicorns.

Return to the Sea is an amazing record.
I like the Unicorns just as much if not more though.
i saw them a few months ago and didn't like it, the saxophone on every song drove me crazy. i guess it was one of their first shows, though, so maybe they're better now. it also seemed like they were trying too hard to be weird. i was just a record store where they were setting up to do an in-store show, but didn't even feel like staying around to see them for free.
Saw the Unicorns with Wolf Parade quite awhile back, haven't gotten a chance to catch islands yet...but i heard they were coming to NYC

I guess you just missed them.
yay portland.
They were just in Portland about a month ago. They were the opener and didn't play for nearly long enough. Glad they're coming back so soon.
i've been hearing really good things about them.. i'll have to go pick up their album. what would anybody compare them to (if thats even relevant.. i dunno)?
Kind hard to compare, unless you've heard of the unicorns (obvious). Islands kinda have a 'tropical' theme going on in that album, it's wierd, I like it anyways. Gonna go to their show on Monday, portland :highfive:
The singer name-dropped Paul Simon's Graceland as a big influence on this album. So, sort of a combination of that and the Unicorns with some calypso type stuff thrown in.
