When they were good... they were about as good as any band ever. When they sucked... man they sucked. Just What I Needed and Good Times Roll are nearly perfect. The whole fisrt record is damn near perfect.

I am listening to the Cars and drawing deth metal stuff. Strange mix.

Weird. I listened to the "Complete Greatest Hits" CD 4 times today and was thinking that at their best they were one of the best bands ever. Some of their songs are perfect. Then you listen to songs like "Hello Again" and get all bummed out because they're so lame. I hope they don't go on tour without Ric Ocasek.

wow, mike, i'm a little surprised you like the cars.
with that out of the way, i agree with you all the way. when they were good, they were mindblowing. that drumbeat switch-up on just what i needed kills me every time.
did you ever hear dale's record with the cars covers? (steel pole bath tub: unlistenable). pretty amazing (if not obtuse) renditions of 2 or 3 classics in the way that only dale can do justice.

The new Ric Ocasek album is kind of bland! I do like the Cars though and it's amazing how much the big hits still get played.
