    Default The Clash

am i the only one who can't get into them?

i don't hate them by any means, i actually have their first 4 albums and there are a few songs that i really like. however, for the most part, i'm indifferent to them. i understand their place in rock history, but...

    It's sad really.
It's like, everything that came after them somehow made them less potent.

What you really need to do is this: ONLY listen to Combat Rock. All the time. No radio, no other cd's. Nothing.
Eventually, it will sink in and you'll have this epiphany.

that's funny because i think Combat Rock as a whole is one of their lamer efforts.

I love the Clash. At times in my life, I have love-LOVED The Clash.

i think you have to put your feelings in a certain place when listening to the clash. you need to really listen...listen deep to everything thats going on... its pretty unexplainable...

when youre really getting into the clash, nothing else seems to matter. theyre pioneers, in their own special way...

what? why would you listen to a band's worst album (neverminding Cut the Crap... ugh) as proof of their legacy? Combat Rock was totally half-assed, lot of infighting in the band at that point. The songs don't stand up well to the live versions, and most people who have heard Strummer's original mix of the album agree that it's better than what was eventually released.
