I was obsessed with them when I was 9 years old, waaaaaaaaaaay back in 1980. My oldest brother was going to take me to see them open on the Who farewell tour. My parents, of course, said "hell no". It's the only band that ever really mattered to me, with the possible exception of the Ramones. 25 years later, and I still play them regularly. The live Strummer recordings that strummersite has made available in limited quantity are also amazing. The three voices that resonated with me, Joe Strummer, Johnny Cash, and my grandfather, all died seemingly at once. It was kind of a jarring experience that still feels like a kick in the balls. Now, having said all of that, if anyone has an extra one of Shepard Fairey's Joe Strummer portrait... feel free to message me and I'll send you my shipping address. Anyone who went through the period of time when punks were hunted for sport can relate to The Guns of Brixton, and the phrase "feel like a soldier, look like a thief".
I've always had a weakness for white dudes playing reggae-rock. hence my love of Men At Work.
i just never envisioned a time when a thread like this could even exist. WOW.
man, Flyin' Cars must be just around the corner.

That shot of the banner unfurling on the front of Bonds always makes me want to set a police car on fire.
probably because you didn't realize that reggae was a big influence for them, flanders.Originally Posted by dennyschmickle
