If a somewhat established band were to want to find a new drummer in NYC or close environs, how would they go about looking? Other than placing ads in the Voice. That was no good.

just steal one from another band....nice and easy.
Shit. They did that last time this drummer punked out on them. Then they were stupid enough to take the guy back.
Now they want a fresh one. They're in CT, 20 minutes from going on and the drummer still hasn't shown up to called to say when he will. I feel bad for them.
drummers are hard to come by. i thinks its all the equipment. its the hardest to lug around and you don't get too much tail at the end of the night.
Well, the late drummer finally showed up in the nick of time. The band owns their own drum kit and keeps in in their van so he doesn't even have to lug it around.
But is the only reason to be in a band to get laid? C'mon, I thought it was about artistic expression and stuff! And not to be judgemental or anything, but most drummers are kind of... not cute.

My drummer's off on his summer dig - no shit - he's a PhD candidate in Archeology.
Yeah, I know it's 2004, but he loves him some Hopewell burial mounds (or villages or whatever).
HHmmmm, have you tried music stores? It sounds obvious, but drummers are always buying sticks and heads & shit...
This is why they make drum machines.
