I should probably watch it again on DVD in a less insane setting. At least I'll enjoy the archival footage more that way. I have no idea if they tweaked it after the Toronto showing - that would be cool if they did. When I saw this thread I was actually hoping the funding they were asking for was for a re-edit with more music and more concert footage.

I don't remember specifics, but I remember not liking Kramer's personality in the movie very much for sure!

The Toronto crowd was SO enthusiastic - it was a Midnight Madness show, which brings out a completely different crowd then the regular festival goers. It was standing room only and people were hyped - but you could really feel the energy being drained out of everyone with the sweat as the movie went on. For a lot of it you could see people shifting their weight in their seats and exhaling loudly - anytime music played you could see people springing to attention again - so the parts without music really stood out.

Hopefully a dvd release will contain some more unedited live footage. Having talked briefly with the director, I know that they shot a ton of interviews with other bands gushing about the influence the MC5 had on them. I'm glad that stuff didn't make it into the final cut but it would be interesting to see as a dvd extra.

i think it's sad that all the fucking around over the years has caused this to be so heavily bootlegged, i don't think anyone is going to care if it's officially been released.

mostly because i think everyone thinks it already has been officially released.

Everyone I know who gave a shit seemed to have a bootleg copy of this. I went to a party in Detroit where they were practically being handed out as drink coasters. I'll buy the official release though. The crappy DVR boot doesn't have 5:1 sound or any extras or menu options.

The MC5 were pretty badass, as were their "little brother" band the Stooges. I'd definitely like to see this.
