    Default Commissioning a poster

    I am trying to commission a poster for a website I am a member of and I am looking for advice on how to approach it. I am not sure what to expect as far as price goes or how the whole process works. I am hoping for an 18x24 print with three colors or whatever the artist feels the neccessary amount of colors should be. How do commissioned posters like this work? Do the artists require money upfront before starting on the design? Also is there proper etiquette when asking for things you would like incorporated into the design? Is there usually a preview of the design for approval? I have absolutely no idea how the process works so any advice would be appreciated. I am serious about commissioning a poster so if anyone is interested or would like to discuss it please send me a PM or e-mail. I have not been a member for very long, but I have donated each year to the GP auction and I am a big fan of the website although I still do not get half of the jokes. Thanks again for any help or advice that anyone can provide and hope this post does sound completely retarded.

    the best way to go about it would be to email the artist you'd like to work with, and ask if they'd be interested in designing/printing a poster for you, and then ask for a quote.

    each artist is different in the way they work, and what they'll ask for for compensation. (and some don't print their own stuff, so that would be an extra step for you to take care of in arranging printing).

    just be aware that going into this, you're gonna be spending at least a few hundred dollars. if you don't want to spend that much, don't look for a screenprinted poster.

    Pick some artists that you wish to approach. You pick them.
    -Tell them what you want.
    -Ask what they will charge.
    -Work out the rest between you.
    -Simple.
    www.guyburwell.com = gratifaction!

    I think the best way is to check out this: http://jmringuet.blogspot.com/2002_11_07_archive.html

    And then tell me what you want by emailing there: jmringuet[at]gmail.com

    If you give me something fun to do I'll give you a good price
