    Default Missing Sullivan

not sure if this was already talked about but......... i can't seem to find the thread where " sullivan" said we were yahoos and punkerinos and shouldn't be trusted with a design job.

IMHO he/she was a bit off the mark ( and sounded a little like a jilted lover/canadian promoter....????? ) but........ some interesting points were brought up by both sides ( thanks tuffy ).

i'd like to see these kind of threads remain up for everyone.

Last time I saw it, it had descended into talking about penis size.
I assume that's why it got deleted.
    But I agree with scrojo

Missing Sullivan sounds like it should be the feel good movie of the season.

and for the record i am glad that thread is gone, it makes everyone look bad. hell we don't even know if the person was telling the truth about getting work done, the whole thing coulda been made up.

if the person had actually had a bad experience hiring someone from here it would be a different story and i would think it should stay.

what we really need is for someone to write up a post with tips on the best way to go about posting work for hire and it should be stickied to the top of the art for hire forum forever.

    not the best/only way but.......

i think Malte had all the best intentions but...... made the same mistakes a lot of promoters/bands do when they come to this site. couple thoughts on the subject:

    - don't open it up for submissions as a contest. this is the equivelent of bands playing a festival and only the band that performed the best getting paid.

    - nothing wrong with having a tight budget, just remember you usually get what you pay for ( altho you did peak my interest with the whiskey. but, c'mon, go the extra $50 for a half way decent bottle ).

    - don't try and sell the artist on "good exposure". the internet has killed an artist's need for exposure. what young artist need is good solid connections inside the industry.

    - there are thousands of the most amazing artists listed on this site ( with contacts ). one of the truely amazing aspects of this site. take a look around for what you really want then contact them directly. just expect to pay a professional price for a professional job.

    Now that's interesting.

I just searched forums for the word "punkerinos," and every appearance of the word was post-Sullivan.... except for one instance, where the word punkerinos was used back in 2004 by....

    well, just take a look.

So, tuffy's point, as I remember, was that he'd had clients tell him that they would never
hire some people from here based on what they (the designer) had posted here.
I think it's a good topic for discussion.
I have no idea if I'm one of those people or not, but maybe a decent discussion will
    make my l.stalions-sex-nightmares go away.
