Thanks, I know where you are coming from. I started like many many others on here doing flyers for my friends band, and it progressed from there so keep at it.Persistance pays off.

True it is very hard to find like minded people such as ourselves, but its part of the music business, and finding a venue that is on the same page is hard in Europe in my opinion.

Yeah, not easy at all for France poster artists. A good way I found to convince venues or promoters that a special screened gigposter can be sweet is to bring them on GP.

I guess that the better will be to get the band itself motivated ... venues can also propose it but I'm not dreaming anymore ... I'm not sure promoters often really cares about the artistic side ...
Joli travail en tout cas rica !

(Merci!)
Depends of people, I guess. Anyway you have to convince the venue if you wanna sell your poster the night of the show.

what's worked with most people i know is starting small and working directly with bands.
once your stuff is out there , promoters start coming to you.

very cool poster.

i'm agree with you.

We always have the tour poster but rarely a poster specially for a Paris gig.

Except for the Qotsa gig at the zenith in february, I didn't see a gigposter sold at a show this year...

Seripop are right.
Relationships with bands are the key to making posters, anywhere.
Making posters for your friends' bands, or your own band, as a participant in the scene, is a much better basis for establishing yourself, than begging favors from people in the concert/record industry. Get to know the people you want to work with. Concentrate on bands in your city and your scene, and don't worry about big names and international touring acts. Be patient.

Man,if you think you're having it rough in Paris you should come to Greece and see what's happening in this shithole with promoters and gigs and bands etc etc etc.
But i feel ya, it's so fuckin' lame to give away free(and out of good heart such as yourself) stuff and no one even bothering to take a look!

if you contact some smaller , regional bands you like you will probably get a MUCH better reception than trying to do a poster for an american band on a major label.

the bravery don't need your posters , why should promoters care when it's a band who's show will sell out regardless?

pretty much everyone in the biz started small , and worked their way up. don't get frustrated if you try to skip the steps and don't find any takers.

remember , gigposters are first and foremost about promoting gigs. keep that in mind and find bands who actually NEED the help getting the word out.

Also if you go through the band you won't get sued. The bands are the ones with the merch contracts not the venue or the promoter.
