Weird that the entire planet is more or less running on this "crappy" product.

    plantweed -

yup, they need that. but, even though agencies have insisted on it and refused the account without it, they will not listen to reason about that. the competition is too ingrained into the "culture". they CAN'T.

so, the lousy products made on the fly, stealing technology and frankensteining the parts together is only going to result in eventual disaster. one day, someone will successfully launch a strong affordable competitive product and microsoft will literally vanish overnight. just watch. this challenge from google will be fun to see...

the demise of the mighty evil empire will only make me giggle.

Isn't Vista like putting a new Saturn body over an '85 Escort body over a Pinto engine?

In the 15 years I have been using Windows I have never had a problem or failure of the OS. Ever. It's always hardware failure. I understand that people do indeed have trouble with Windows it just has never really been my experience.

Windows Vista sucks for an above average user but otherwise... Xp has always been solid. windows 2000 and NT before that. I have zero complaints with Microsoft.

If you know computers and are willing to work on them, I think Linux is probably superior, but I don't think there yet exists a simple turnkey OS. You stil lkinda have to know what you're doing to make it work.

Windows is riding that middle ground of people that want a little bit more than an appliance (like the bulk of coffeshop Mac nerds) and a little less than a box they need to program themselves (Linux).

Plus, games are all on Windows...

I had to use Windows in various jobs full-time. It did the job but feels clunky and boxey, not "smooth" like Mac. But to each their own. I'm just amazed these gazzillonaires let that shit out to TV.

the reason people have trouble with windows is because they don't know how to use computers. too many grandma's on tweeter.

the quality of their product has never been considered the best. the nature of their "culture" has always been paradoxical. the resulting bullying of american business has been damn near criminal. all of these things (and more) has made them corrupt and weak at the core, like their infrastructure is rusting out. they can't go on like this.

the advertising is so obviously reflecting this inherent problem. that's what started this thread. their advertising - the very crux point of communication with the consumer - is so laughable and lame that it tells the truth of what's going on there. it literally becomes the naked emperor. i watch them and laugh and laugh - AT them. they are like blind folks on an obstacle course. they don't have a clue what to do.

the bigger they are, the harder they fall. there is truth in this comment.
