california is broke for these reasons:

1. Prop 13. very little income from property tax.
2. insanely bloated state gov payroll and services
3. more and more environmental laws forcing business out of the state
4. huge amount of services for non residents/ illegals
5. repressive system if you want to start a smaller business
6. loss of major military installations in the 80's
7.lack of infrastructure investment for industrial type industries
8. out of control costs and bureacracy in the state school system
9. innefficient and highly in the red municipal public transport that feeds on state funds
10.state policy of letting people build in unsafe geophysical locations such as malibu coast
11.unwieldy zoning restrictions in many areas

californioa also has a policy of rewarding the non performers at the expense of the performers.

case in point:

I know a guy, who works under the table at a place down the street. he is an illegal immigrant from Serbia, and has been here for like 10 years. pays no taxes etc.

he is a a heroin addict. last year he developed major ulcerated arms from dirty shooting and ended up working the system and recieved a free 4 month residency at a state funded clinic at Stanford where he got free surgical care, etc etc. wjen he got out he showed me the 'bill'
that was paid for by people like me that actually pay our state taxes. the 4 month deal alone was about 230,000.00

that represents my state income tax payments for almost the next 8 years. for 1 4 month stint. which DIDNT WORK. within weeks of his release, he was back on the junk and now, a year later, his arms are fucking up again.

not to mention he gets a monthly stiped from the state system too boot, like 600 bucks PLUS free methodone treatments every few days. which cost is huge as well.

anyhways, this ONE dude, who is a total scavenger and basically shouldnt even be here is sucking probably several million out of the system over the years and paying back zero.

this system is insane. multiply him by 1 millio and thats the problem. the parasites are driving out the performers.

I want to leave c alifornia as soon as I can and live somewhere where this sort of thing is at a minumum.

it makes no sense. this guy will never ever get his shit together and will never even remotely 'repay' the society around him for even 1% of what he costs. not to mention the
'eyesore' factor of him and the system of petty drug dealers and associated scum his money he gets from ME and other working people that goes right into the pockets of the heroin suppliers.

Apparently this stupid memorial is going to cost the city of Los Angeles up to 4 million dollars. All of which will be paid for by the tax payers. Strangely enough... none of the Jackson family are tax paying citizens of the city of Los Angeles.

yeah, our budget is so fucked the mayor has resorted to asking for donations to offset the costs. meanline murders are up, gang violence is back up, etc,etc...and all the while we burn millions to put on a show for a dead junkie.
