    Default LA cyclists....read up

i copied this over from an email I received from some friends i ride with....

Westside BikeSIDE! Hummer hits cyclist. Officer Cho sympathizes with the driver, adding “and I carry a gun in my car.”

On the morning of April 24th a Hummer hit a young cyclist, sending him to the ER. When cyclists stopped the car to get his information, they fled the scene, running over three bikes and nearly killing several cyclists. LAPD stopped the Hummer a block later, with a bike lodged beneath it. LAPD let the Hummer driver leave the scene, IN HIS CAR.

Many of us have a story of how LAPD treated us unfairly when we were on a bike. We all have stories of how we've been intimidated by motorists, something LAPD should, but does not address.

On Friday, May Day, make LA City Council hear our voices in unison decrying the failure of LAPD to support and respect cyclists. We need their help, desperately, and we rarely get it.

Let's fill council chambers with cyclists. Get off work, cancel that appointment, and show up to show support for cyclists across Los Angeles.

I started 25 years ago with a stolen Kinko's card and a shitty bicycle. If I can do it you can too. - Kozik

For the record, I also enjoy snack cakes and receiving fellatio. - ENM

Reading "The Art of Seduction" saved me a lot of money on Roofies.

I was stuck in this giant RV with Keith Richards and he kept tickling my ass and trying to toss my salad. - B-DROID

    yep.

i'm all for responsibly sharing the road with bikes but personal experience has always proved that a group of people on bikes = bad news. sucks for person who got hit though.

A similar thing happened to me and a few friends in London a few years back, in broad daylight. The 4x4 just drove off (over a couple of bikes)
Freaky insecure mofo's out there in BIG trucks..
best of luck weathermaker. I'd be there if it weren't over the ditch.

I have no sympathy. My studio is on a major bike lane street, and daily I see muiltiple
single bike.group of bikes vs pedestrians or cars incidents and its pretty evident bicyclists here at least feel free to violate all concepts of the rules of the road and common courtesy, and feel free to kick cars, shout at old people, throw shit whatever.Want to share the road? get with the program.better yet, get a car.use some common sense.

    fuck em in da fixiehole

Yeah, the initial person who got hit... that sucks. Too bad that persons friends decided to intimidate the driver and make the whole situation worse because that sounds like what happened to me.

If the Hummer was new it most likely wouldn't have plates.

On the other hand my hatred for Hummers makes me hope the driver gets ass raped in hell.

Nothing good is going down at the corner of 7th and Los Angeles Ave at 2am. That I can guarantee.

Would the cyclists care if it was a Prius?
