yeah, skid row area is rough, but so many people i know have studios in the area and its not as bad as it looks, as far as walking around is concerned. definitely advisable to be cautious there anyway.

It's better now than it was 10 years ago. i have actually been down there at warehouse shows a bit over the last few years. 100 years ago I NEVER would have hung out down there. it's still pretty shitty though.

heh, my bro used to live in that area back in the early to mid 90s. on east 3rd street i think.

it was such a fucked up hood he couldn't leave the apartment at night. shared a kitchen with 10 apartments and a bathroom with 4 other apartments.

easily the sketchiest place i have ever been. one of those places where you don;t stop at stop signs or stop lights if you don't have to at 2 am.

I am I totally wear one of those vests (in the winter). Mine's neon yellow. My sidewalls are reflective, I run two headlights and 2 taillights. .

Agreement here. Visibility is key. I like lights. I've got a few bikes and have a collection of vintage lights. I like Dynohubs.

The only thing that pisses me off is a cyclist picking a chosing which laws to abide by. I was driving home one day and there was a cyclist biking in the road, acting like a vehicle. Fine. I am cool with that- he was going close to the speed limit and all that jazz. Traffic was stopped at a huge intersection. Our lane was stopped because traffic going the other direction was turning. Instead of following vehicle laws and waiting for the light to turn green, the bicyclist went past all of the cars stopped and cut through the intersection, almost causing an accident. I wanted to throw something at him so bad when I finally got to pass him after my light went green.

I longboard around NYC and do my best to stay out of the way. Cars hate me, bikers hate me, pedestrians hate me. I ride on the road, but people always try crossing when I'm legally going through an intersection.
