seems like the sharpie wouldn't stick to the paint? was it just primed before or something?

supposedly right on the paint and then a clear coat over the sharpie

but i'm thinking the sharpie ink wouldn't stay on the paint if the surface is really smooth? you know, like it would just smear or something.

now i'm hung up on this...

sharpie has oil based paint markers... guessing they used those.
