It's pop art plain and simple. No different from the Warhol soup cans, but with a political message behind it.
The Apparatus, as usual, put things in perspective.
Who in their right mind wouldn't jump at 99% of the opportunities this guy has had or made. Dude started out 15 some odd years ago with vinyl stickers and now he's the president of art. Good for him. I don't think anybody here doesn't recognize that if they are a working independent artist/designer they are in a sense a brand unto themselves.
I think his biggest critics are people who just get pissed they didn't do it first. It is really simplistic. It's not just like he flips horizontal either tho.
Haters hate. He's lawlzing and having a great time all the way to the bank.
Did you notice in almost all his press ads or TV spots he is always sporting some old School punk band. I thinks that's awesome. First time I meet Shepard many years ago, we talked about the Melvins for an hour straight. Dude is super passionate about music as much as design
good for shep.
i'm not to into his art from the past 4-6 years, so i do this totally crazy thing and not pay attention to it.
this can only be good for other artists out there.. win win.
