In the new issue of CMYK- this made me really angry

I occasionally go and pick up a copy of CMYK from time to time to see what the illustration work is when I saw this in the ad section:

The ad reads "THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN GOING TO THE BALLET IS GOING TO THE BALLET TO WATCH YOUR SON" then at the bottom "RAISE A CHAMPION, NIKE KIDS"


Am I over-reacting? This ad makes me so damn angry. What is wrong with ballet? It is just as much a sport as any other and why is it so terrible for men to be in ballet? And this is for a Nike Kids ad, so this is probably in a bunch of kid magazines. What are we trying to teach our kids? That boys only play football and soccer? what the crap. This should not have been published, in my opinion.

ballet is teh ghey? who knew? My GF dragged me to Nutcracker, and I did bust out laughing when the dude with the super toned ass did a double twirl and threw flowers in the air.

I think it was a poorly chosen media buy. If it ran in Maxim, well, what do you expect. But in CMYK?!? I bet they have a fairly high gay readership (Not that you're gay if you read CMYK... Not that there's anything wrong with it, if you are.). Regardless of where you stand of the political-correctness spectrum, it seems like it was a poor business decision. Whoever at Nike placed it in that media buy should be fired. What a bozo.

wow. that is seriously messed up.
i have a son. i also plan on having him learn ballet. ballet will hopefully give him a better understanding on how your body works, how to control it and give him better skill/strength/speed/reflex on the football pitch. ballet can help you in other sports.
and if you think it's not manly, can you freaken do this?(that's what i asked the husband when he objected to my ballet ideas.)
