There are days in Florida when you feel like you are living in the 19th Century. Here is part of the text of an e-mail sent by the Chairman of the Hillsborough Republican Party (this is county that contains Tampa).

THE THREAT:
HERE IN TEMPLE TERRACE, FL OUR REPUBLICAN HQ IS ONE BLOCK AWAY FROM OUR LIBRARY, WHICH IS AN EARLY VOTING SITE.

I SEE CARLOADS OF BLACK OBAMA SUPPORTERS COMING FROM THE INNER CITY TO CAST THEIR VOTES FOR OBAMA. THIS IS THEIR CHANCE TO GET A BLACK PRESIDENT AND THEY SEEM TO CARE LITTLE THAT HE IS AT MINIMUM, SOCIALIST, AND PROBABLY MARXIST IN HIS CORE BELIEFS. AFTER ALL, HE IS BLACK--NO EXPERIENCE OR ACCOMPLISHMENTS--BUT HE IS BLACK.

I ALSO SEE YOUNG COLLEGE STUDENTS AND THEIR PROFESSORS FROM USF PARKING THEIR CARS WITH THE PROMINENT 'OBAMA' BUMPER STICKERS. THE STUDENTS ARE ENTHUSIASTIC TO BE VOTING IN A HISTORIC ELECTION WHERE THERE MAY BE THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT.

This was a follow up response when someone tried saying that the black community was voting for Obama just because he was black. I then pointed out that the majority of the community has always voted for the democratic party even with a white guy running. I had some girl say this to me on facebook in a group I was posting at:

her: Yeah they vote democrat for one reason and we all know what that is!
me: no, I don't think I know what that reason is. CARE to explain?
her: Well if you don't know than I don't really feel like explaining! Have a great day!
someone else: Hahah, ohhhh racism. Yes, you're right. Every black person wants to be on welfare. You solved the big mystery, ----her name---. Congratulations.
her: No not racism at all just fact! There are plenty of people of all races that are on welfare. Point is no matter who you are or your skin color I don't want to give MY money to anyone else when I work hard for it!
