He made his war chest off of an overwhelming number of regular people sending in small amounts of money, many for the first time in their lives.

I dont give a shit that a FUCKING YEAR ago he promised McCain that he would take public financing money. It's immaterial and Im tired of people trying to get that tired bullshit meme to grow legs and walk. It wont. No one cares. No one should.

You donate to a campaign for one reason: you believe in a candidate and their message and you want it to both to reach as many people as possible. No one can claim that this doesnt achieve that.

Campaign finance reform is primarily about one thing: limiting the influence of special interests and lobbyists wield with their outsize contributions. Contributions so large that they taint the playing field. Taking many donations from individuals is completely and fully in spirit with that. The fact that it has resulted in such a huge windfall makes it MORE, not less, effective in that sense.
