maybe if they don't act on it, but abortion and gay rights, while not important "political" issues, are issues. they effect reall people's lives in huge numbers. that's why they use them to distract voters. the real point is, neither should be mandated by government.

this is fascinating. I agree with Dusty and Dan... That this isn't going to end well.

My uncle and I talk politics on a daily basis and the only thing I could say on Friday was "this is really bizarre" and I think for once I was right.

If she drops out, I think it will be even worse for McCain. Calling his judgement into question again... so my thought is that she can't drop out. He's stuck!

Oh woah woah wait, now many states would democratically reverse roe-vs-wade and people want the Government to mandate those special interests.

I wanna know what Obama is going to do about the huge Embassy we have built and are building in Iraq. Has he said if he would shut that down and return it to the people of Iraq, he better have or he's a damn liar! He didn't really bring it up in his talking points at the DNC....seems like a bigger issue than teen pregnancy.

    i am pro-choice, not pro-abortion.
fact of the matter is that children are expensive. and they are like sponges that soak up any negative thing in their environment and mimmick it. there are tons here that were not planned for and/or are not cared for.
So why is it that the Repubs can veto sex-ed in schools and scream when Dems raise taxes. Who is going to take care of these innocent children?
Maybe we can raise taxes just enough to buy the orphaned and neglected babbies guns so they can fend for themselves.

Abortion is a mad topic, there are so many factors that go into it, it can never be boiled down to this ignorant pro or con black & white stance.

I agree, it should never be in the hands of the government.

On the other hand, abortion is the SECOND most performed surgical procedure in the US, behind cosmetic elective plastic surgery. The majority of doctors in this country are chasing high ticket procedures while people are still dying of real illnesses & disease. But is that a problem with a capitalist society, with racism & eugenics, with the class war, or what?

One thing that gets me going 0 to 60, is that all the Jesus freaks who protest abortion seem to know nothing about it. I saw these great videos where an interviewer would stop roadside protesters & asked how much jail time women should get once Roe v Wade was overturned. They were stumped, they never thought of that at all. Just like you won't find a lot of churches taking in a lot of single moms to take a bay to term.

In 1971, 1.5 million illegal abortions were performed. After R v W, it went up fractionally, to 1.6, & has remained roughly at that level since,... abortion is with us & is here to stay,... the problem is obviously societal, & no amount of legislation is going to affect it whatsoever.

It should not be an election issue ever.
