I didn't like the obvious focus on the truck driver during the chase. It was like a big underline for the whole chase: "WHO COULD THE DRIVER BE??? HMMM????"

(it was the Gary Oldman character in disguise, having faked his death)

I'm not saying I figured it out or anything... it wasn't predictable, it was just weird how they had several scenes with a nobody cop character talking to another nobody cop character - who happened to be wrapped up in a facemask/riot gear and didn't speak.

Right when the movie ended I guessed that she'd be back as Catwoman.

OF COURSE SHE'S NOT DEAD!

Good or bad, when have you ever seen a movie where the heroine actually dies completely off camera? Or when have you seen a movie where the heroine dies and the hero doesn't have a scene morning over the dead body?

Also this dialog pretty much seals it in my mind:

(Talking about Batman's new suit)

Bruce Wayne: How will it hold up against dogs?
Lucius Fox: We talking Rottweilers or Chihuahuas? Should do fine against cats.

I think maybe they were trying to make you think it was Joker - bit of a red herring. I know what you mean, but I didn't mind it.

Maggie might be back but her death was on camera. You see the blast behind her and the entire building explodes. He she survived that then kudos to her.

What I liked the best about were some of the shots of Batman standing on edge on the building looking over Gotham or the Joker with his head out the window with no music or sound.

SPOILERS:

I disagree. True, we saw her in a room with fire and explosions - but there was nothing to indicate to us for certain that the exterior of the building blowing-up was the one she was in.

Ah yes you did. The Joker told them two addresses. Batman went to one and Gordon went to the other. The building gordon went to exploded as he was outside, the same time as Rachel is shown INSIDE the explosion. Besides it's not like if she was in another building that exploded around her she would be fine since it wasn't shown on screen.

I guess I think Rachel being brought back from the dead to be a villian is dumb and boring

Yeah, I agree. I did dig the vibe they got from Chicago, but it seemed like Gotham was an afterthought. I remember seeing several Illinois license plates on the cop cars.
