i like bale as batman, but i can't figure out the voice thing and it's so...extreme. you'd figure they would make him reign it in a little.
I bet he has to use a lot of lozenges after doing those scenes

Not nearly as extreme as Bale but Kevin Conroy in the Timm series used a different voice for Bruce Wayne & Batman. Timm probably took the idea from the Fleischer Superman cartoons of the forties where they did the same thing.

saw it last in Imax. Loved it, altho it should a been called 'Joker'.....

1. Joker: brilliant performance. Too bad homey OD'ed. No one can ever play the Joker again. He should get a posthumous Oscar. I will go see it again because of this performance. Especially loved his slimey assed rotting teeth. So nasty.

2.Cinematography: Brilliant. I loved the essentially CGI-less backdrop of Chicago. A lot of the shots where also really really sweet....and the opening bank robbery sequence was a great lil flick all its own.

3.everything else...normal, altho I did appreciate the totally weirdly super normal ' O look it's my dad....o no, its GARY OLDMAN....another bizaarely great performance for reasons outside the movie.

4. Bale is actually a good batman, basically a robot. In this one tho, it seemed to me the mask design was a little weird, the nose was too long and too high up so his close ups looked goofy.

5. as a 'comic book movie'-the lack of constant lame looking cgi and the adult treatment of the sequences ...it transcends the genre.

Liked the fact it made it more REAL, didn't like the fact it looked less 'Gotham'.

Wouldn't have mattered if Batman was based in a real city, but it did just look like he was hanging out in Chicago, and that was the only thing I didn't like, cos Gotham is as much of a character as anything else.

The only problem I had with the film was the sound - could barely hear what anyone was saying over the noise.
Or was that just me...?
