"Run and you will only die tired"
I've had a 3G for about 4 days now, so far my favorite apps (I've only downloaded free stuff) are:
-- Yelp, Drync Wine, Around Me, Urbanspoon: because my girlfriend likes to be spontaneous with booze and restaurants, but also won't try something without looking it up first.
-- Stanza. It's like Kindle, has lots of free books (mostly public domain stuff from what I've seen). Been reading Kafka on it. Lots of Kafka.
-- AP Mobile, NYTimes, NPR...I like to read the news in several places, because you just never know. Points to AP Mobile for pushing me an update that Ted Kennedy died like 60 seconds after it happened.
-- Facebook is better than I thought it'd be, but I'm not a big facebooker anyway.
-- iHandy Level is free right now...totally cool.
-- Guitar Tuner
-- Nice to have eBay/PayPal, but I haven't used them yet. Likewise for Bank of America and Citicard stuff. Cool that they're there, haven't used them. BofA can use your GPS to get you to the closest ATM, and that's cool.
-- With the Fandango app and GPS yo ucan grab movie tickets in about 5 clicks. That's really cool.
The default iPhone mail section has gmail as an option, but no contacts and no access to the address book, and it doesn't leave conversations grouped together, so I'll be using the Google app a lot more than I have been. Probably one day make an effort to fully manage contacts as well, using that Google Sync everyone's talking about.
Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams also have apps where you can snap a pic of something, select a portion of that pic to choose a color, then match that color to one of their paints. The Benjamin Moore one also has a "Harmony" feature that shows about a half-dozen complementary colors. Pretty cool. I think I'm gonna use it for ideas when framing art.
This may be a bit goofy for you skid sniffers, but here is a game I just finished working on for the iphone / ipod touchiez:

Check it out if you get a chance. Or don't... it's entirely up to you.![]()
Somewhere between "Who knows" and "Who cares."
The Benjamin Williams one is called ColorCapture, the Sherwin Williams one is ColorSnap.
Book reading is okay, you can change the font size to whatever you want, but if you make it about the same size as it would have been in the actual book only like 75 words fit on the page/screen, so you're flipping a lot. But if you absolutely can't carry a book, it's pretty cool.
