Jesus. Is that considered descent money in Iowa?

I've noticed it's a proving ground for entry level into IT. Get a job for a year at the genius bar, and you can count on quick entry into a descent IT position at any company that is predominantly mac based (ie.: advertising agencies). I've been told that it also goes the other way. An IT guy at an agency where my wife works was approached by Apple for a management position at one of the New York Genius Bars.

I live within a long-walk or 5 minute cab ride from the 5th Avenue Apple store.

They're open 24 hours, 7 days a week. When I have a problem, and don't want to wait in line. I go at like 3 or 4am.

The service is pretty good, and I don't find that they're just looking it up in the manual. They're all pretty knowledgeable. There's also probably a larger pool of Mac based IT talent in New York than in other cities.

They must train the Sprint folks to try this. Same thing happened to me and they wanted me to basically pay the 200 bucks to cancel the contract. I couldn't spit on them because I was on the phone with them. Damn.

Having some problems updating the phone this morning, probably because there are a million other people doing it.

Went to the AT&T store nearby at 8:45. Only about 30 people in line. Waited 10 minutes and they came out said they were sold out. BUT, of-course you can "pre-order" today and they get you a phone in 7 to 10 days.
Then went to the store in downtown and they were sold out. The guy said they only got 20 phones, but larger AT&T stores got 40.
I'm waiting till noon to see what the Apple store in town has. They had over 150 waiting at 8.

that said, i hate the smug mother fuckers that work the genius bar. and how the fuck can they call it a genius bar? if the dudes working it were any smarter than it took to read a manual then they wouldn't work there for probably not much over minimum wage. It's the "I have stock answers to all your questions bar".
ha! the apple store here has solid folks at the stupidly named genius bar, really. they've helped me out numerous times and been super fast, cool and on point. then again, i'm in pittsburgh so high-falutin' attitude of any kind doesn't fly at all, anywhere in the city. steel-mill-mentality all the way. and that's pretty rad.

one of the managers though is a complete assjacker smarmy bitch jerkoff. luckily i have not had to actually rely on or deal with her much.

I didn't mean to knock the dude who helped me at the apple store. He was very helpful, although my screen is still flickering so I guess I'll be going back.

The genius bar used to be a ghost town before the ipod. Now it's full of kids who don't know how to reset the ipod themselves.
