When I first started reading the comments on the poster I thought it was a bit much. There are times when two people come up with the same concept for a poster or even the possibility ofspooking at so many posters that you don't realize you're not drawing up something new...

Then I went back and looked at the link in the comments to the flickr page. Holy crap. At least use a different background color, do the spines of the books. Do it with a halftone, anything.

I assumed he was at a point in his career that he would no longer be showing student work.

Anyway, seems to me like he probably hustles work and gets jobs by managing a tight shop. He's a blatant rip-off artist, but his work still gets accolades and he gets a lot of business, then he seems to have a good eye for who to rip-off.

Doesn't excuse anything at all, just an observation.
