luna, it's a bummer and it's true. looking at the poster that actually got made, it was an offset print, digitally captured image. my bet is simply that luke wants to pay as little as possible for posters, but he has good taste and wants a good product. in fact, this year, almost everyone i've worked with has had this kind of attitude, and i'm hoping it gets a little better. paying for good work supports the artists who make it, whats so hard about that?

I have a hunch. Business skills: good price and timely delivery.

I know a lot of artists can make bass-ass work, never meet a deadline, don't return phone calls. If he's getting big gigs it probably means he's running his shop well. Maybe ripping shit off left and right, but if bands and their managers have come to know him as a guy they can do business with who will deliver the goods, on budget, on time... well.

Not to excuse the guy's behavior, a rip-off artist is a rip-off artist, but he's not just working with bands, he's also working with brands. He's doing work for Levis. I imagine he probably just runs a tight shop.

A concept for Levis doesn't mean he ever worked for Levis.

Pretty easy to run a tight shop when thats basically all you're doing. 0% creative time commitment and 100% management.

No argument, people were just asking how he gets the work.

Not defending him, just giving what seems like the most reasonable explanation.

The part that I find intriguing is that it seems to be a pathology for him. These aren't isolated incidents, and he even posted a public apology on GP for his behavior. He keeps falling off the wagon or something.

Well if it really bothers you, work some SEO magic and make this thread come up in Google results for his name.
