If you had that much money you wouldn't care how you looked. And neither would the super model wife

When I met them they where the nicest people ever. It pissed me off, I really wanted them to be assholes.

Lars, high on cocaine at a party was asking friends of mine if they had heard some cover song on some soundtrack. when they said no he said "does your computer have limewire on it? just download it" and they all kinda looked at him like "you fucking dick" and he said "it's okay i think i kinda have the ultimate hall pass when it comes to that" . Shithead.

I don't claim to know the whole or even half story, but my understanding in this case is that it was the label, not the band, that sent out the cease-and-desist. That the band had only played them a demo. The label only wanted publishers writing reviews once they had heard the final master recordings. It was obviously handled very badly.

I actually had a lot of sympathy for their position on Napster. Stealing music is lame. If you're a fan, buy the fucking music.

Also, Kirk Hammett is a really nice guy. James Hetfield, maybe not so much.

They should have had them sign confidentiality papers then.

Hetfield was kind of a snob, but Kirk was a really nice guy. I didn't meet any of the other guys, this was way back on the And Justice for All tour, but Some Kind of Monster portrayed them pretty accurate to my experience.

Back in the day I dated a girl who was good friends with them, Cliff in particular. In fact she was one of the first people called when Cliff died. She woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me after she got off the phone with james.

I met them all. They were kind of a-holes. Used to see them at punk shows at the Farm and thrash shows at Ruthie's Inn. But, they kind of had a right to be. They were the shit at the time and I think most anybody would have had a bit of attitude.

The Exodus guys were kind of the same. Aside from Bayloff. he was rad. A meathead but rad guy. He booked my band a bunch of times at the On Broadway. I was bummed when he died.

Nobody was a bad as Mustain though. To this day he takes the trophy as the biggest a-hole I have met in the music world.

My band was just on the outskirts of those big thrash bands at the time. We shared management with some of them. For the most part we got treated like shit by most of them. I always felt like maybe they were kind of "jealous" of the fact we were real skate punks that played metal as opposed to all them who got into punk and skateboarding after the fact. i don't know though.. that was probably just my teenage thinking.

I met him twice, the first time for a video shoot in montreal, i was doing some background graffiti and we were supplied with endless amount of beer. I was really wasted and kept complaning to him that it was the worst set up to do what we were asked. He was laughing the whole time. I was the one who lookedlike an ass that time.

The 2nd time it was to give them paintings commissioned by the promoter. I met them one by one to give them the portraits and they all seemed to really appreciate and didnt seem to be in a rush to leave or anything. Hetfield remembered me from the first time. He laughed when he saw me and said" hey you were the guy who was all pissed off on the video set". It was pretty funny.

Like I said, I had a good experience meeting them. (Still wouldn't put one of their cd on though)

I knew these brothers in college, they were friends with Kirk. They kinda knew the other guys, but they were good friends with Kirk. When Metallica came through Memphis on the "And Justice for All" tour, one of the brothers called me and said to come meet him and his brother out at this bar. They didn't tell me, but when I got there, they were there with Metallica. Or rather, Metallica was there, and they were there with Kirk. I put my name on the chalk board for the pool table and James put his name up after me. James was kind of snobbing us all. I think he said "hey" when we were introduced, but otherwise kind of acted like he was too cool for everyone. When my name was up, I went and played my game of pool. I won the table, so James had to play me. He didn't speak a word to me the whole game. When I was on the 8 ball, my friends came over and said we were all about to leave and going over to one of the brother's apartments. When I sunk the 8 ball, James was like "Aw shit..." and then I got some mild satisfaction out of telling him he could keep the table, after he snobbed me and then I beat him (there was a very long list on the chalkboard).

After that, Kirk left with us, myself, the two brothers and a couple of other friends. We hung out at my friend's place for a while. Kirk was completely down to earth. If you didn't know he was the guitarist for Metallica, he was just another guy hangin' out with some friends. Big fan of The Sisters of Mercy, which I was at that time as well. Had a good story himself about how he was once snobbed off at a party by Andrew Eldridge.

That's just silly, his drumming was distinctive and great.
