    wow, just saving the psd file the way you said made the indesign preview better and run faster in indesign

    I believe you need a special viewer to see the DCS files before hitting the press.

    I'd think it would. The image isn't actaully IN the file. It's just a placeholder.

    doesn't look like that worked richie.

    i'm gonna try and output an actual bitmapped tiff file instead of having the whole psd channels file linked.

    you're talking about the final output being pixelated, not viewing it in indesign, right? because (as richie just said), the images shown to you in indesign are placeholders. you can switch between quick (pixely) and full quality display. under "view".

    just making sure it's not that.

    Bummer. I don't really know enough about InDesign to help you out...but I do know that for some reason InDesign is printing the channel preview when it should be printing the actual channel.

    it may have something to do with the OPI settings.
