If a printer screws up.......
So, I had a poster printed by a very reputable and outstanding printer (not-to-be-named) and they arrived using the different color than I had requested. They says they can not re-run in time for the event. Am I obligated to pay?

i'd say if a specific color wasn't called out, i.e. a Pantone color to at least reference, then the printer has at least a leg to stand on when settling this.

This is one of the reasons I don;t print other's stuff. Unless you want to use a spedball color right out of the jar yer effed.
