Default Loco Sticker Process

I thought I would share with all of ya'll what kind of goes through my head when I design. I 'll try and show all of you the little things that I think about or change along the way.

First off I went down the street last night and left some High on Fire posters with Steve. The guitar player for ADT (Attack Disarm Takeover)
There going to play with High on Fire on the 24th here in Fresno.
I asked Steve if they needed anything and he me told, If I could do them up some
stickers. He showed me the old sticker they had just to kind of give me an idea. He also kind of let me do whatever I wanted. I started doing some sketching on the back of some handbills just to show some ideas to Steve.
So it could save me from going back and forth.

Here's the sketches I did last night. I was also pretty drunk (No I wasn't driving)

Steve liked the square style cholo type and wanted it to read down the sides with the letters stacked. He also wanted to be spelled out "Fresno Hardcore"
at the bottom replacing the word "Fresno"

Then I needed to come up with a skull. I got on google images and found this

I looked at it on the screen and started drawing with a pencil and adding my own thoughts. I saw a video on ADT and the guitar player had a bandana on so I put one on the skull to kind of have some element of the band.

I took both images into photoshop. did some clean up and adjusted the levels
so the midtones where gone and made it heavy contrast

Image/Adjustments/levels

then when I was happy with it I grabbed my magic wand tool and set the tolerence at 30. I put the wand in the white area and clicked and then Select/Simlar. Then Edit/Fill and hit White. I also did the same thing with the black area's.
Then I made a Path. Path/Make Path Work and set the tolerence at 2.0
Then Export / Path to Illustrator.

Now I have paths/vector artwork of what I sketched out.
From here I take this into Illustrator and finish it up

Then I layout the type and skull until it all comes together

It will be a black sticker (material) with white ink
