last night was pretty good with ryan being all tweaked.

the dinner party... i dont think ive ever felt uncomfortable watching tv before that episode. it was EFFING hilarious.

I hate that they've made Michael a sympathetic character. If they'd stuck with the David Brent approach and kept his jackassery pure for a few seasons... that woulda ruled. I have a theory that American television can't produce an unlikeable main character. They always try, and then have episodes where you see the "softer side" or some vulnerability or some shit. something to make the viewer sympathetic to the character. i hate it. see also: dr. perry from scrubs.

what about dr. house? i don't watch the show, but he seems to be quite the dick, and people love that show.

Dr. House is a damaged character. With his disease and addiction come compassion.

Another good example of the like-ability thing is Ari Gold.

his accent is fine...... it's the wig and make-up that give him away as english.

I totally agree, and I have a hard time sympathizing with such a dumbass.. Which is why a lot of the new episodes really bother me.

The best episodes are always of him totally messing something up, not him trying to get a date.

i love "the office" but i hope they call it quits after a couple more seasons and then try and tap the gervais-merchant well again for an american version of "the extras".
