Default Bootleg book featuring GP peeps (Jeph, LFOP, Chris Hope, Spike Press...)

Check this out. Looks like someone took the whole LCS portfolio and published it as a book without anyones consent. Including some interviews.
I spot some GP regulars in there, as well as other well known artists (Jeremyville, House, James Jean etc.)
Someone´s needs to get hell.

I just read the other thread... sucks that no one was asked, and I would definitely tell them to give me a copy...

HOWEVER: to play the devil's advocate... isn't there a whole bunch of people who actually pay to be in something like this??? Some people pay to enter those design annuals, or Best Of publications, without even being guaranteed to appear, others pay to get into books like Panda Meat and such (I understand that is for printing costs) but at the same time these are all kind of design volumes of what is going on in design at the moment.

Not saying it's right... I think it was a shitty way to do it... but the outcome is relatively the same.

I think the beef was that whoever didnt ask permission. What if one of those posters was never supposed to be reproduced in any way because you had an agreement with the band or some other stipulations?

No. You can't just publish someone's artwork without their consent. Especially when you go into the poster realm, because then you're dealing with band names/brands/identity.

You also can't republish someone's interview without consent.

And, the biggest reason anyone here should be annoyed that someone is swiping their jpgs off of GP and printing them in a design/art/illustration book is: Image quality. If you don't know or aren't part of the mix, they're printing a 72dpi jpg, and that's bad news.

I gotta wonder if their was any consent given by anyone in that book, because it looks like there's some corporate work in their too (ie: stuff that the artist themselves may not own the rights to) and that's even stickier.

Whoever created that book is a complete moron, and i'll bet that of the many illustrators in there, a few will flex their lawyer's muscles and the publisher will learn an expenive lesson about purging the internet for content.

Someone should demand some profits or tell them they want this to stop being printed.

Stopping printing is the only option actually.
