anyone have or ever have a dog with Hip Dysplasia

My poor dog is getting old, she is going on 14 now and her hips are really getting bad, she is crying almost every morning and i have to help her work out the pain by doing some leg stretches on her that the vet taught me, I got her on glucosamine and condrinite and the vet really doesn't have much to say about treatment other than what i'm already doing. I also put a heating pad on her. I know alot of you have pets and I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had to deal with this and if there is some alternative treatment to relieve the pain.

I know there are pain relievers for dogs, but I'm not sure if they are daily or when the pain seems bad. Our last German Shepherd was getting it pretty bad, we gave her pain relievers when she seemed in pain. Good luck. Spoil the shit out of her.

what phoon said. rimadyl worked well on my dog when he was having his tplo problems but that's left up to your vet to decide. it's a daily pain reliever but i don't know if it's long term or not. give her a big bone to work on so she doesn't have to move around too much.

I know, me and my girlfriend were looking at those things this morning, half jokingly, my house is loaded with stairs though

i ordered a memory foam dog bed, i want to make her a comfortable as possible

you know your pooch better than anyone.. when you see a dramatic shift, youll know its too much pain or of the pain meds arent working anymore.. sorry man.
