I was a big fan of both Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears early 80s stuff. Pre-becoming-huge-pop-stars-in-America, releases.
If your into electronic music, and if you only know Songs from the Big Chair (which I loath) The Hurting may be the best album you've never heard. They rereleased it in the 90s with a new album cover:

the depeche mode early stuff on Mute is great..
Likewise early Human League stuff before Oakey took over and remade them into top10 fluff. They also were called the Futures before that and it was extremely dark n' noisey.
my alltime old school favourite though is Fad Gadget!
48 Hours (Movie) pretty much took over this song. Still a good song

I've always like the simplicity of this song

deltron 3030 playing right now.....
dub does the darks side of the moon up next, followed by some live agent orange cd, then a metalheads compilation. my coworkers really going to hate me today.
Someone on here mentioned Portishead earlier. They're good, not really my thing though. I got their debut, are their other albums any different? I love all Massive Attack (overplayed Mezzanine, but Blue Lines will never get old). I've also heard Tricky is someone worth getting into, described to me as sounding like Massive Attack, but harsher.
I bought the new Roots album, and I'm excited to listen to it from all the praise it's been getting on GP. Doomtree sounds like something I really need to listen to.
