to put that in perspective, it's a big deal that zetterberg has scored in the first 16 (a wings team record). only 35 more to catch gretzky.

it's just REALLY hard for me to wrap my head around comparing jordan and gretzky. don't get me wrong, i'm HUGE a gretz fan (i once owned a signed stick but got broke and sold it) and never much cared for MJ, but i can't do it. i can't say who was the better athlete. what they did is just so different.

can you imagine gretzky taking off in the air from the free throw line?

what about jordan on a breakaway?

i killed too many brain cells over the years to do it.

MMA= Mixed Martial Arts.

You can't compare the two sports of Basketball and hockey so all you have is stats to go by. Going by stats..... Gretzky is WAAAAAAY beyond any other pro athlete. He just flat out runs away with it.

I would say that watching the both of them in their prime it was very obvious that they were both light years ahead of everyone else they were playing with or against. I watch Crosby and see the same thing. He is just so much better than everyone else on the ice at all times it's ridiculous. Had Crosby played in the Gretzky era I think he may have been able to put up those same type of numbers.

crosby is amazing. i've been able to see a couple pens games this year and he has 3 goals and 2 assists in those two games.

i know you hate the wings, but have you seen what zetterberg and datsyuk have been up to so far this season?

The Wings are killing it. I hate it. I can only really like Holmstrom though. The rest of the Wings can suck it. Hasek was one of my all time favorites until he went to Detroit. Now I can't like even him.

My only joy is knowing that no matter how good the Wings look right now they will fold in the Playoffs at some point.

holmstrom is on the datsyuk/zetterberg line now, and is thriving. he scored one tonight against columbus.

yeah, yeah, the playoffs. i think the same shit as you do. it's goaltending. then again, we won twice with mediocre goaltending, and once with hasek. i have hope still. we won a cup with both of these guys.

That may indeed be the saddest fact of all. I prefer when goalies are a major part of a Cup run. Like the Ducks had last year.

When a team is so dominant that they can win without a goalie stealing it.... I could care less. No drama.

that's pretty true. i guess if it weren't the team i grew up with i would feel the same way. the wings needed strong goaltending in 2002 to win.
