yeah, i know WHY the netting is there, but in reality it was inattention that killed that kid. it was inattention by her father. my kid and i have had to duck several pucks in her life. you NEVER look away from the ice during play if you're close enough to get hit. it's THAT simple.

it's a damn shame it happened, maybe the nets are necessary. i wasn't saying that they aren't. all i was saying is that the netting sucks, and it's changed the way i watch the game when i'm there. i won't sit behind that netting. last night, what turned into a game winning goal should have been a puck in the seats (possibly killing some inattentive nitwit or his offspring). i HATE the netting.

then again, i hate shootouts and everyone else seems to love them, so what the fxck do i know?

Yep, same. Watched a ton of hockey behind the net and never notice it. It's easy enough to say that you just never look away during play... but the fact of the matter is that out of 15,000 people someone is always not paying attention. I don't think they take away from the game at all. They are very necessary. That game winner was a messy situation, but those things happen ALL the time. What I don't agree with, however, is that it was an un-reviewable play. That should have been reviewed... that situation is EXACTLY the reason there is video replay.

When I go to games I want to hang out and shoot the shit as much as watch. it's a fun time and kind of a social thing. If I want to concentrate only on the game I'll stay home and watch.
