...hmmmmm, I agree that overuse of the "trap" that NJ made so successful in their
triumphs, hindered a lot of teams that had more of a dynamic lineup. But....dont you miss the days of the flyers wreaking havoc on the less physical teams?

I am all for an open game with, lots of movement and passing, but as soon as the league started requiring that all rinks become standardized, I feel that the game lost a little bit of what made home ice advantage so successful.

I enjoyed the way teams had to adapt to rinks like the bruins had or how the Forum in Montreal always had a certain echo.....

With the amount of man-games lost to suspensions this season I'd say the Flyers are still wreaking havoc. And putting pucks in the net.

in fairness and honesty....I havent been paying much attention to the last couple years of NHL....I had no tv and i had no desire to monitor a depressing progression that the NHL has been moving towards.

but my parents have an NHL package and I have been watching Montreal play and I happy with their success.

Montreal 1- Toronto 0 right now

He who laughs last....

I guess we'll just have to let them play it out.

Look at Montreal, my home team. They have padded their team with Easter European players and they are doing insanely better than they have since they one the cup in 93.

Bowman stacked his teams with eurasians (Russia's only partly in Europe).

no shxt!

of course the red wings were successful utilizing that much of that time, but it did slow the game to a crawl.

scotty bowman took a quick skilled team into the '95 finals, a team that set a league record with 62 wins, and was swept by a clutch and grab team.

after what the devils did to the wings, they perfected the left wing lock, and all the offense came from counterpunching. it was fun to watch as a wings fan, but it had to suck for the other fans watching their teams jus get mucked up in the neutral zone time and again.

Kings return the favor. If the last place Kings beat you guys tonight I'm gonna giggle. But they won't. They suck.
