And to reply to some of your comments... Serato has no "automatic beat match" function. If you use it like I do, or most DJs for that matter, you do all of your pitch adjustments with the turntable's pitch control. As for "taking the hunt out of certain records"... I still collect vinyl vigorously. Except now I only have to record a rare record once, and I can play it millions of times with no wear and tear.

seems like a tool that would be great for DJs that do weddings and similar events.

what bugs me about serrato is the number of lazy fuckers that visually beat match shit using the waveforms... I've seen that a lot..

and, like everyone else said, it's a tool..
We just played with Low Budget and he rocked the floor like nobodies biz..

i would have loved to check the files that guy had... lots of chopped tracks and samples

at weddings though nobody really gives a crap (usually) about true dj'ing so most wedding guys are mixing mp3's or cd's with no tables

A somewhat related story: The Off Centre DJ School. Steptone brings it back to the vinyl.

i have now changed my view a litttle about this, because i now everyone was waiting with bated breath for my opinion.
i approve now of mp3 / vinyl interface. although i'm not sure what i'd go with: torq or SSL.
