that one is pretty neat looking. i've been looking at this Shoei , Shoei RF-1000 Solid Helmet - Street Bike - Men's Riding Gear - Motorcycle Superstore

i need to get something , but with the initial cost of getting a bike , insurance and everything else i may have to skimp on something cheaper for a few months.

I tried using my first helmet, bought at a pawn shop almost 20 years ago. The insulation is crumbling, & the windscreen is so scratched it star points every headlight. It's too bad, I love the 'Klansmen suck big black cock' sticker, & the 'Fuck Taxis' sticker that they pile up on every counter at every NYC bike shop. Tried my e-wife's helmet, & it's gigantic,... had no idea she had such a big melon. So after hitting every Savannah suck shop, I just picked up a matte black half shell & wear it with WW2 goggles,...

I don't like it. Not so much for the protection, although full face takes the sting out of rain, but for the sound. Over 60 I can't hear a damned thing with open face. Full face puts all the engine noise right in my head so I know exactly what's going on. With the half shell, I find myself turning my head so I can hear better.

I'll be shopping for helmets any time I'm out of the ass backwards town.

Yes... the sound element... I can't hear shit either with the half helmet. My bike is quiet as it is...

I use the Vemar full carbon helmets, they are race rated yet weigh like 1/2 of a normal helmet. plus no graphics.

no shit. i'm living on the poverty line compared to your income Frank. want to hear something sad? my cig habit costs more than my bike will a month. taking the bike safety course in a few weeks, taking the permit test next week and hopefully getting the bike next week. i blame it all on this thread. i'm ready to ride, wish i had done this earlier in the year.

a Kawasaki KLX250s. haven't ridden in about 12 years, just want something to get the feel of riding again and to have fun on. i live in a very small town surrounded by country side and roads so this will be fun for the environment i'm in. i'm sure i will want something bigger but this will do for a summer or two.
