I predict, two years from now: no bike.
    I shall purchase a bike.

Go listen to Wilco or something.

I second taking the MSF course. It's the sh!t.

I started on a '98 Harley Sportster and still have it and love it. Maybe because I'm a chick, I dunno. I also have a Y2K Harley Softail that I still love, too. Does that make me gay? I dunno. Neither have been any more unreliable than anything else, but I also haven't done major mods to either bike. A nearly stock Harley is a reliable machine, in my experience.

I have a lot of friends with BMW's, and while they love those bikes, they said that when stuff goes wrong, it's hella expensive to fix.

I wish I could fit on a Ducati. I'm only 5'10" but find that my legs get cramped easily on a Duc. Sucks.

The Yamaha cruisers are pretty damn cush, though, and aren't nearly as hard a hit on the pocketbook as a HD.

There's a lotta cool bikes out there...take your time and do a lot of research before dropping cash on one.

im 6' 3'' and experience no discomfort on my 996 or my 749.

although i did buy adjustable rearsets and set em up etc.

I rode my shovelhead chopper for ever and ever, and it looked pretty cool
but man nothing beats a sportbike for fun.

    i'll never go back.

MSF course, excellent idea and pretty friggin easy too. I'm suprised nobody's recommended a Triumph bike...I never owned one so I can't say much about them. Sportsters, you can get an old used one cheap and make it look cool, rat rod style....
Just remember to always ride like everyone is out to kill you....it's like you are invisible or something.

i tok the msf course too. good stuff. learned a couple of things that saved me a couple of times. seriously. i think the monster sits too far forward. its a streetfighter style which means a crotch-rocket without a fairing. no matter what you have to go sit on it before you decide. every bike fits everyone differently.

OK its not what kind of bike you get, but the optional bikini model that comes with it thats important.
