I do believe the re-issues mainly have better carbs, electrics and standard fasteners ( not the old weird british standard sizes which meant. basically they seem to be 'easy' to work on, unlike real 60's triumphs which are a nightmare....
a: couldnt get the weird fastener sizes easily,
B; needed all the special tools
its been a couple of years since I checked out the 'modern' triumphs, I know some of the sport bikes where pretty good.
cant deal with the 'fake harley' ones tho...those are just dumb. Triumph should stick to 'cafe/race/city' bikes I think thats their heritage.
KTM makes awesome bikes but they are a pain in the ass maiintenance wise. you have to track engine HOURS and do these insane valve adjustments all the time. also, they de-tune the engines so you have to figger that shit out for your altitude etc.
my EXC is a great bike but tempermental. 2000 feet change in altitude, you got to start fiddlin with the carb.
I see alot of pretty cool custom sportsters on craigslist too. I like the agency's 883. It's pretty fun to ride. A 1200 would be good city hopper...
please dont get a sportster.
I probably won't... I really like those Triumphs... A Thruxton or a Bonneville
If I ever get a Harley I'll want something bigger.
Hey Frank do you have a tube bender at the shop?
