Bing and Bang. do you have a choke? - check that it is returning all the way after it is warm. You can always back the throttle tension off a bit if it's just holding the revs up. Adjusters on the top of each carb (lock nut and adjuster)

you got a great deal there Springer.

I'll check throttle tension... see if it isn't returning all the way... good point.

Yeah... I'm pretty stoked... it was a good deal... plus my RD runs like shit in hot city traffic.. start and stop every 3 seconds at low rpms with a 6 speed gearbox = fouled plugs and a hot engine... this thing cruises in 2nd gear.

    BMW R100RT by Wrenchmonkees

Not the same model as yours, but it's got an R60 tank and I thought this would be some nice additional inspiration.

I was really hoping to pick up a bike this summer/fall and "make it mine" over the winter. Doesn't look too likely as I've got other projects that in the end are going to take priority and probably be less expensive. But since I'm here posting instead of lurking, here's a picture of one of my favorites:

That Triumph is pretty sweet... yep, I saw that blue BMW and added it to my folder... I am leaning towards something like this... utilizes the bolt on rear frame so no permanent frame modification, I like the lower/scrambler type fender on the front and trail tyres rather than the full on knobbys, not as extreme and easier to do... don't like the light on this one, but I have some ideas...

Picked up this 78 KZ650 for $400. I will be finishing the tear down tonight so I can get the frame to the powder coater.

Found a bore kit to get it up to a 750, and I found 32mm carbs. I'm chopping the frame to the shocks and I'm looking for a 21" front wheel.

    I hate the term cafe racer...but that's where it's headed...kinda.

Yep... I do too... when people call my 77' RD a cafe racer I say: "nope, it's a stoner rocket" because every person I knew who had one in the 70's and everyone who has said "hey, I used to have a RD back in the seventies" looks like a complete burnout... applies to KZ's as well

I understand that it's gyroscope stabilized, but that thing freaks me out. Jaws of life waiting to happen.
