no way the worst has to be the new creed album. who on earth allowed that thing go to print?! they have so much money, couldnt they have gotten a sculpter to carve their faces into a tree rather than the sloppy photo shop work.

alot of the bluetip records have some cool design, interesting use of metallic inks. The Smithsonians Anthology of American Folk Music is pretty nifty as well but then again im sure box sets are another story... the recent coltrane box set with metal cover is really cool.

The best has to be Iron Maiden. I can't think of a band that had more people get into them because of the covers. The first time I saw Killers I new I wanted it. Other favorites
    KISS "Hotter Than Hell",
    Aerosmith "Draw The Line",
    Beatles "Peppers",
Led Zeppelin "Houses Of The Holy"
    Ramones "Road To Ruin",
    Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers"
New York Dolls "New York Dolls"
    Alice Cooper "Easy Action"
and of course Spinal Tap "Smell The Glove".

Worst covers Cheap Trick "The Doctor",
    KISS "Asylum"
The Damned "Music For Pleasure" and Pearl Jam "VS".

The Accused "maddest stories ever told"

Jeff Gaither and R.K. Sloan. Man this one was a big influence on me.

It really gave you a good idea of what you were getting on that record. Even if you had never heard the band you knew what was coming and it was'nt going to be pretty.

Oh yeah and as a little kid I loved the Stones 'Let it Bleed" cover. My dad had the 8 track and I used to love trying to figure out what all of the layers of that freaky cake were.

Jeff, you knucklehead. Bruce LICHER is famous for the Savage REPUBLIC album covers as well as all the other packaging from Independent Project Records.

That Makers LP was a good pick, Scott. Chantry's stuff for Estrus has been so great for years. I love that Cheater Slicks Don't Like You LP, too

It's too hard to pick one cover. Some of my favorites are the early Factory Records covers by Peter Saville.

Stanley Donwood's Radiohead packaging is all brilliant.

Willie Nelson-Red Heded Stranger. It's just so real, and it was the very last true holdover from the late sixties fillmmore inspired designs. Also rem's Murmur, because all of the kudzu reminds me of home.

For me,the cover for cream's "disreali gears" by Martin Sharp is the one of the finest examples of psychedelic artwork ever. The dayglo reds and pinks and the explosive swirliness and trippy imagery are so cool(man!) Also the follow up album "wheels of fire" also has groovy martin sharp artwork, this time in sliver and black
