I shot those in 2003 when it was just a bunch of abandoned buildings.. some friends and I spent a day out there trying to get in to the buildings.. Milwaukee has a lot of cops, and most of them were hovering around the Pabst factory at the time.
The coolest part about the place and I could kick myself for not taking pictures of it was a place called Blue Ribbon Hall which was a bar attached to the brewery which was done up in the style of an old German drinking hall. Lots of woodwork and stained glass and original Pabst furniture from the turn of the century. I wanted to get in there more than anything but it was nearly impossible. I would like to think they preserved that, but from what I understand it's a sales office for the development.
The whole perimiter around the Brewery has been closed to everybody but construction traffic... the more noteworthy buildings had their Facades saved but were gutted. The others were, which I think was anything built after 1920 were torn down and will be replaced with modern replicas of the old buildings.
All in all I think it's not too bad of a thing... coming from Chicago where they just tear down the old and replace it with brick boxes it's definitely very vintage architecture friendly.
