Decent? You get to see Black Flag living in a church! And live footage of Darby Crash! That kid had better lyrics crammed under his fingernails than all the bands today have in their entire repertoire,...

Another State Of Mind is pretty great, too. Mike Ness is like 17 years old, & you get to watch him write that song over the course of a cross country tour.

just got back from seeing this....

it's REALLY good. there's gotta' be miles of footage from his childhood, early bands, interviews with the Clash(including ones with Toronto music journalists JD Roberts, Jeannie Bekker and Avi Lewis) and a whole ton of family, friends, musicians, actors and directors that worked with him at some point in his career. i learned a lot! needless to say - the soundtrack is incredible.
Toronto people: if you're interested, it'll be playing at the Royal Cinema all next week.

A couple of months ago, I watched Hype! for the first time in over 5 years, and it was still fun.
I've probably watched Crumb 10-12 times.
Seeing Comic Book Confidential on DVD recently kinda killed my previous late night viewings of that film on CBC back in the day. It just seemed a little light. Maybe cause I know a little more about the folks involved now.

"Comic Book Confidential"...Ron Mann did one on poets, before this, I think...it was cool, if only to see some sweet old granny recite a poem about the travails of being a junkie....

If you like footage of atomic bomb tests ( and who doesn't?), I REALLY recommend "Trinity And Beyond". It uses some really sweet quality footage of various tests, through to the first Chinese test, has a great 5.1 soundtrack AND has narration by William Shatner.

Earlier in the thread, I think, Mr. Kozik mentioned "Blood Upon The Snow", a series on the Great Patriotic War. If you dig WWII dox, you'll really like it because it's more than just the typical "Then Germany invaded Russia and then, and then...", like your usual sunday afternoon PBS thing...

I watched Herzog's My Best Fiend last weekend. It lived up to and exceeded expectations, happily.

Even though the only Kinski I've seen is his part as the anarchist in "Doctor Zhivago" and a dreadful 'pay the rent' gig in a cheesy sci-fi movie, it sounds really intriguing...

Also, "Mr. Death", by Errol Morris is really great, the first 10-15 minutes are a real drag, if you're into the jazz cigs: watching how an electrocution proceeds is a TOTAL buzzkill....
