Default Question on Rights

I am getting stuff together for that Spencer Drake book...in his contract he sent me to sign there is a section that states:

"I also covenant, warrant and represent that the material that is the subject of this letter of permission is my original work and that I have the full right and power to grant you this permission."

With that said, do I have the right to let him show any Fillmore Posters...I have done a few and am aloud to show them as portfolio pieces, but when it comes to being in a book...do I have the right to let him show them...

Am I just paranoid...just wondering if I can show my Fillmore Posters in books...cause I want to.

Anyone?

if the fillmore is doing their same old thing you DO NOT own the right to reproduce them the Fillmore does. They where like BAD about that.

re-read your Fillmore agreement.

when it comes to reproduction like this - do what you want and make them stop you. it'll be a lot more effort to do that to you than to just let it happen. what have they got to win by stopping you giving them exposure? it's a win-win thing. they can still stop you from printing and selling, but an exposure thing like that increases the value of the poster like three-fold and up over time.

They have been cool with me when I have done posters...but I don't get called much lately...they pay a basic price...I think between 300 and 400...and they give you 50 posters...that is all. I just always wanted to get on the wall in the fillmore and I have...so now I like doing the posters for myself...they are more rewarding...you can do what you want...

I remember when I joned the Marines, the recruiter had a poster of a DI with his face in teh face of some pencil dick recruit with veins popping out of his forehead, and at the bottom it said. WE DON"T PROMISE YOU SHIT!

I knew I was in the right place.

I agree with Art. Once your art and creative inspiration/metaphor makes up more than 70% of the "area of worth" of the piece, it is yer property in whole. Stay away from using any existing logos, it insulates you more in court (back me up Art, I think that's the safest way to go). Then make THEM bring out their law team at $2000 an hour to pursue some artist making $300 a month off the work. If they do, rebuke by threatening to blow the whistle all over the web that they are corporate assholes and that Bill graham would be rollin over in his grave. Then if you have made good friends in bands, you have them start callin up and cacellin, they'll back off quicker than a summer cold. Remember, anyone can file a lawsuit, only angels can make art, and that's the real Speed talking, not the pro wrestler persona. Listen to me, listen to Art, he's right, I'm right.
