Sorry, last post of the night--I hoped you enjoyed it.
What are you talking about, Benny Goodman was in a bebop band. Also, just because you do something different than a previous form of music does not mean you despise it with all your being. Music changes, people innovate, but that does not mean you hate the stuff that came before it.
I said probably didn't appreciate, not despise it with all their being..who said anything about hate?Quote:
By 1953, Goodman completely changed his mind about bebop. "Maybe bop has done more to set music back for years than anything [...] Basically it's all wrong. It's not even knowing the scales. [...] Bop was mostly publicity and people figuring angles."
Quote:

You called swing dancing a "bastardization" of jazz. That suggest at least an extremely strong dislike. You have to be pretty hung up about it to be so offended by someone dancing to your music.
I didn't know that, but still doesn't really change anything. I'm cool with figuring angles for the sake of figuring angles. People should be allowed to experiment if they like. That's what jazz is all about. I'm a very experimental dancer so I'd have fun trying to figure out how to go along with it. What I take issue is this attitude of dancing being dirty, a thing to be scorned, as if dancers have no appreciation for the music they're dancing to. I pay more attention to music I am dancing to than anything else I ever listen to. Tell me why that is such a terrible thing.
I fucking hate jazz.
It all comes down to expressing yourself, no matter the genre.
My uncle used to teach me about jazz while ass raping me. That's why I don't like jazz.
Was he ass-raping you with a cat, in a tank?
damn, this was a great morning read, i'm bummed that i'm at the end of it. i wish i could contribute something, anything.
